We are a FIRST robotics team based out of West Lafayette, Indiana. We were founded in the spring of 2005 and participated in our first season in 2006. Since then, our team has grown tremendously, from 12 students in a math hallway closet to 50 students and our own dedicated room with access to school-owned machine shops.
Every season, we build a robot to complete tasks set before us, and in doing so, teach our members about STEAM while also putting them in an environment that gets them ready to go out into the real world. We offer opportunities to gain programming, building, electrical, computer-aided design(CAD), graphic, web design, essay, grant writing, and presenting skills to our high school students.
Sas 1747, we don’t just build robots; we give back to our community. FIRST is all about spreading STEAM to the younger generation, especially those who might not otherwise have access to STEAM education. We host and attend outreach events to achieve just this.
We were also affiliated with the FIRST Tech Challenge team 10133 for three seasons.
We would love your support! Building robots is no easy task, so if you are a business looking to sponsor us, go here. If you are an adult in the West Lafayette area considering volunteering your time to mentor our students, email us at 1747bosspanda@gmail.com.
